Watercolour depicts the remains of the first bridge over the Nepean River. The bridge was built in 1855 by the Penrith Nepean Bridge Company and opened on 1 January 1856 with a grand ball being held on the bridge. It was destroyed by floodwaters on 29 June 1857.
