Built in the 1830s for Rev Samuel Marsden the house is constructed of stuccoed sandstone with cedar shuttered windows. Built in a rectangular shape it has a central stairway and eleven main rooms with a single storey kitchen wing. Marsden operated a model farm there producing wool, wheat and fruit.
