Digital Literacy
Penrith City Library’s Digital service is available for minor technology issues such as:
• Printing, webprint and scanning
• Using your device
• Connecting to our free Wi-Fi
• Searching the Internet
• Using Libby by Overdrive audio, eBook and eMagazine service
• Using IndyReads and Beamafilm and other subscription services offered by the Library
• Using Transparent Language Online, the library's language learning service.
• Help with new technology
Customers are encouraged to bring along their own equipment for digital literacy support. Technical faults on customer devices will need to be referred to the relevant manufacturer or a service technician.
For longer sessions training is being offered on an individual appointment basis. See information below.
Tech Help Sessions with the Digital Literacy Foundation
Book a one hour, one on one training session with a Tech Mate from the Digital Literacy Foundation on Tech Tuesday at Penrith City Library, or Web Wednesday at St Marys Library.
Tech help topics may include:
• Creating and using an email account
• Creating documents
• Attaching files and photos
• Using subscription library resources
• Downloading and streaming content like movies, books, and audiobooks, and more.
• Using your device
• Searching the Internet
Bookings are essential. Call 47327891, go to my.penrith.city to submit a request, or see one of our friendly staff at any of the library branches.

The Digital Literacy Foundation provide free tech help while supporting you in your digital learning journey.
Please note - fixing broken hardware or software is not within our scope.
Laptop Loan and Smart Locker
Laptops are available to loan for free within the Library at Penrith and St Marys to Library members for up to two hours per day.
Laptops are supplied with a choice of browsers and office software.
Smart lockers are available for charging personal devices with USB-C connections available.

3D Printing is here!
Design and create your own gifts, toys, art, jewellery or practical objects at Penrith City Libraries with our 3D printing service.
You must be a Library member to use this service. The cost to print is $5 set-up fee which includes first hour of printing, plus $2 per additional hour, charged in 15-minute increments.
Plant based PLA filament is used in a variety of colours.
Create your files using a free design platform such as Tinkercad, or download a ready-made design on Thingiverse, or Yeggi.
Complete the application form, submit the file and completed form via USB at any Penrith City Libraries branch. We will let you know how much it costs to print before we go ahead.
Once your model is complete you will be notified via phone or email.
Conditions of Use
- Public PCs, copying/printing and wi-fi access are available for all library customers to use.
- All other technology equipment provided by the library and not listed above is only available for library members to use (conditions and fees may apply).
- Staff can provide limited assistance to customers using their own or library provided equipment. For complex or innovative technology inquiries, an appointment may be required, and additional conditions may apply.
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for their activities and the content they access.
- While the library employs firewalls and filters, customers use the internet at their own risk and are solely responsible for the security of their personal information.
- The library accepts no responsibility for any consequences resulting from internet use.
- Customers must take personal precautions to protect their data.
- The library does not guarantee the accuracy of online information, network performance, or the functionality of third-party software.
- When using public PCs and other technology equipment, customers are asked to keep noise to a minimum and refrain from viewing content that may cause offence.
