According to the Nepean Times 15 October 1921, the exhumation of John Lees took place on 7th October 1921, when his and his wife's bodies were exhumed from the Castlereagh Anglican Cemetery and reinterred in the Methodist Cemetery adjoining the church at Castlereagh. John Lees died in 1836. The remains of John Lees can be seen on the matting in the foreground of the photograph. The minister is Reverend Samuel Roberts of the Methodist Church. Some of those present were Constable Donnelly, L. T. Price and Joseph Field. The gravedigger is George Price, the first gravedigger and caretaker. George Price died on 29 May 1923 at the age of 74 years.
