This cottage is constructed of concrete panels, braced by reinforced fins. According to the Nepean Times, a Sydney architect and engineer, Mr E.G. Stone commenced producing reinforced concrete structures from a plant in Emu Plains in 1909. One of his first projects was the construction of a five roomed concrete panelled house made for one of the managers at the Emu Gravel Company. Given its design and location, it is likely that this was the house. This house is significant as an example of early precast concrete structures.
