St James is a random rubble church with hammered sandstone plinth, quoins and window surrounds. It was built in 1870-1 on land set aside for this purpose by Sir Charles Nicholson. It maintains a picturesque setting within its cemetery, which includes graves dating from the earliest years of the church.
