From the 1870s boating for pleasure had become a popular pastime for locals and visitors and there were a number of places along the river where visitors could stop, have picnics and swim. Many operators established their businesses on the river. In this image a group of people have boarded one William Rowe's boats at his Nepean Boat shed. It was located on the river below the Log Cabin. The man on the right is William Rowe.
