The first hospital was opened in March 1860, in what is now Cox's Avenue, but was closed in 1868. This second hospital was established in 1890 in a building owned by Mrs Price opposite the court house (currently the site of Penrith Police Station). It would remain a hospital until the bigger Nepean Cottage Hospital opened in 1895 in Glebe Place, north of the railway line. The hospital is located at 318 High Street. The facade has been modernised.
