Former Australian Arms Inn and Old Emu Plains post office. Possibly on the site in 1841, it was advertised for lease by John Grant in 1844. It was known as the Travellers Inn (not to be confused with Arms of Australia Inn (now a museum). Robert Beatson leased it from John Grant until 1859, and when he died in 1869, the inn was closed, however his family lived there. The inn site, part of 39 and 3/4 acres at Emu Plains, was passed onto Grant's son, John. It was transferred to his daughter Ellen Coghlin who sold it in 1914. It had seven rooms on bottom level and 6 rooms on second level. There were three slab buildings on site, fodder stores, silos, cow bails and kitchen gardens. Over time the building had been painted over with stucco and whitewash, operating as a post office for around 53 years, run by Miss McKellar until 1967. She owned the building in 1974 when a fire caused damage. It was restored, however it has been vacant ever since with ownership by Penrith City Council since 1983.
