The foundation stone for this church was laid in 1853, and the building was completed in 1854. In June 1964 the corner block of land was sold to Esso and the last service was held in the church was on 18th April 1965. The new church was built in Doonmore Street opposite the Penrith Public School. The identity of the man is not known.
