The cottage was known as Beirnfel and Mirrabooka. It has been the home of the Holswich, Hardwicke and Francis families. This area was first subdivided in 1885 as the Hornseywood Estate. Houses like this represent the type of working class housing built within Penrith during the late 1800s, an important period of growth.
