Now the site of the Penrith Regional Gallery the original house, Lewers, was built in 1905. In the 1940s the property was bought by Gerald and Margo Lewers, leading artists in the development of modernism in Australian art. In 1980 the property was donated to Penrith City Council and the art gallery was opened in 1981.
