Aerial photograph taken of Penrith

1954
Archives
This photograph of Penrith was taken looking east. It shows the Great Western Highway after the deviation was built. This allowed traffic a more direct route to the Victoria Bridge by bypassing Memorial Avenue. The housing precinct around Memorial, Ladbury and Nepean Avenues are clearly visible. The two storey white building in the foreground is the Governor Bourke Hotel.
