The Old Police station once looked like this. It was built in 1866. The building was then used as offices from 1949. A new brick premises was erected in 1926 next to Courthouse and was the Sergeants quarters till 1961. A temporary station was built with demountables, used for 2 years before the new headquarters were built in 1981. Both the (3rd) Courthouse and the Old Police Station were demolished in 1978. The Regional headquarters or Penrith Police Station with 350 police opened on 20 May 1981. It includes major communications, cell block with 17 cells, indoor pistol range, photographic unit and radio workshop. It cost $42million to build. It stands on the site of Penrith’s 3rd Court House.
