The land was granted to Governor King's son Phillip Parker King in 1806. The farm house was part of a large estate which had a large dairy, cattle and stud horses. In the 1940s the land was compulsorily acquired for the site of a munitions factory. The railway line in the foreground was for the transport of munitions out of the factory site.
