This photograph was taken during the First World War and shows members of the Penrith Red Cross spinning wool. This wool would probably have been used to knit various garments for the men of the Australian forces serving overseas. The lady standing on the far left is Coral Earp (nee Ausburn). The lady sitting on the far left is Peggy Gregory. The older lady seated on the far right is the Mayoress, Mrs Fitch.
