Victoria Park started out being called O'Connell's Square after it was given to the village of South Creek by Maurice O'Connell in the 1840s. It was also known as Victoria Square. In 1872 the park was sold but was returned to the community after they contested the sale in the Supreme Court. The cricket pavillion was demolished in the 1960s.
