Torquay was built in 1891 by James Hackett as a wedding present for his youngest child William Joseph Hackett and his wife Sarah Dowd. It remained in the Hackett family until 1988 when it was sold to the NSW Planning and Environment Commission. It is situated on the northern side of the Great Western Highway.
