The land on which this house stands, originally belonged to the Jamison family and was sold to W. Russell in 1851. The house was built around 1855, of sun-dried brick. It includes a kitchen wing, which may possibly be the original house, which is linked by covered walkways with a square residence. It should not be confused with the 1829 Edinglassie, built by Chief Justice Sir Francis Forbes, on the river near Lapstone Place.
