The building was occupied at the time by Working Gear and Riverlands Real Estate. It formerly housed George Pike's produce store, T.M. Masters general store and a lolly shop. In the 1960s Dempsey's Nursery occupied the building. Many of the buildings from the Penrith retail precinct of the late 19th and early 20th century have been demolished or extensively altered over time. However, various retail outlets from this period still remain such as the one pictured here, which is located at 556-558 High Street.
