The cottage was known as Crana and was the home of Thomas Daniel Clissold. Thomas Clissold was a well known local builder who built many of Penrith's public buildings. The cottage was then owned by his daughter Mrs Pearl Hansen. It was then owned by the Blatch family. This area was first subdivided in 1885 as the Hornseywood Estate.
