The photograph is taken from Victoria Park facing east, showing the northern side of the Great Western Highway. The Wagon Wheel Hotel can be seen in the middle of the photograph. A hotel has been located on this site since 1860. Once called the Volunteer Arms, it later became known as the Parkview. The name was changed in the 1950s to The Wagon Wheel, but was changed back to the Parkview in 2000.
