The original Penrith Post Office building was opened on 19 April 1880 on this site. Until that time it had operated through the Kellett family home on the Hornseywood estate near St Stephens Church. The building has been renovated many times over the years. Penrith Post office is now located on the southern side of High Street opposite the police station. Bussell Brothers store can be seen on the left, with O'Farrell's bakery on the right.
