The school opened 28 May 1962 and was housed in temporary accommodation in the Kingswood Church of England Sunday School Hall while the school was being built. The new school was located on Bringelly Road, south of the church. It would later be known as the Nepean District School for Crippled Children. Bill Jamison was the Headmaster with Phyllis Cowan as the Primary School teacher, Rosemary Bentley as the Physiotherapist and Sheila Gullick (later Cunliffe) as the Occupational Therapist. Sheila also started the Riding for Disabled program
This event involved Rotary members taking children on an excursion.
