Thomas Andrews established the Australian Arms Hotel next to his butchers shop on his return from the gold fields. It was demolished in 1939 and the current hotel replaced the original one. The Fulton family owned the hotel and Mrs Frances Fulton stayed with the hotel until 1960. She then sold it to Tooheys. This photo shows the Australian Arms Hotel on the corner of Lawson and High Streets with the two storey Penrith Police Station next door in the distance.
