Nauru, or ''naughty Nauru" as the locals called it because of the pranks, frolics, or mischievous merrymaking that was said to happen in this guesthouse. It was located on the banks of the Nepean River at Wallacia. It was operated by the Leech brothers. The name later changed to "Medford". During the war years in the 1940s, many city children were evacuated to ''Metford'' under the guidance of Miss Buckingham and they became known as the ''Melford kids''.
