Eli James Turnbull was born in 1862 to James and Mary Anne Turnbull. IN 1886 he married Adeline Green at Sackville Reach. The couple moved to Mulgoa where Eli was elected an alderman on the first Mulgoa Municipal Council in 1893. He would become Mayor in 1985 but resigned in 1896. Eli and Adeline had five daughters. He died in 1919.
