View looking south west towards the western bank of the river and south to the Penrith rail bridge and Victoria Bridge. . The area on the west bank was known as Little Manly. The weir over the Nepean River was built in 1909 following many years of lobbying by the council and residents of Penrith. The weir was built so as to increase the river depth upstream.
