This sandstone monument was erected in 1938 by the residents of St Marys, and inscribed: - "In this vicinity is 'Mamre,' Once the country estate of the Rev. Samuel Marsden, missioner, magistrate, and farmer, who died at Windsor, May 12, 1838. Erected to commemorate his services to the wool industry. "Citizens of St. Marys, 1938."- Opening proceedings took place by Ald Christie, Mr. Joseph Jackson, M.L.A, and unveiled by Minister, Mr Richardson
