The unveiling of a memorial cairn which is located on the western side of Luddenham Road, near South Creek. It is located on the site of Gregory Blaxland's farm from which the three explorers William Lawson, Gregory Blaxland and W. C. Wentorth set out to cross the Blue Mountains on May 11, 1813. The explorers where attended by four servants with four pack horses and five dogs. It was erected in 1938, to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the crossing and the 150th anniversary of European settlement in the colony. The stone used in the cairn came from Regentville House.
