This photograph is of the unveiling of Explorers Memorial by Lord Wakehusrt, Governor of NSW. Explorers memorial was unveiled on September 10, 1938 and is located on Memorial Avenue, Penrith opposite to the entrance of Nepean Avenue, Penrith. The ceremony was attended by many relatives and descendants of the explorers Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth. The gentleman in the back left hand corner is the Mayor of Penrith, Mr. David Finch.
