The Nepean Cottage Hospital was opened by Samuel Lees on 3 July 1895. In 1904 an operating theater was added along with an isolation wards and nurse’s accommodation. The hospital closed in 1956 when a new hospital opened in Derby Street, Kingswood. The Nepean Cottage Hospital was remodeled and opened as Governor Phillip Special Hospital in 1962.
