Councillor Marcus Cornish has pushed for the implementation of a parking permit scheme for Thornton Estate that would exempt some residents from the current two- and four-hour parking limits. However, the motion was lost; Council officers have concluded that it is not justified as the estate was designed to reduce car dependency and encourage the use of public transport.
