A request for a local school was made in 1880. In 1881 part of the land in the Mt Pleasant estate was resumed for the school which was called Mt Pleasant. In 1886 the school name was changed to Cranebrook Public School. The school, a brick structure, has changed little since its construction, except for the enlargement of the original high level windows. The school was closed in 1985.
