The archival evidence for Fernhill Estate, its landscape and gardens can be divided into six chronological phases: Aboriginal occupation and vegetation, the Cox family and building Fernhill house, the period between the Cox family and John Darling, John Darling and the Sorenson gardens, Warren Anderson and occupancy of Tripps and now the Greater Sydney Parklands.
