Amalgamation - Cumberland Council Confer

16 June 1928
Archives

A proposal to amalgamate some councils of central and western Cumberland is not favored by representatives of St Marys, Nepean Shire and Blacktown Shire Council, judging from remarks made at a conference in Parrmamatta. St Marys was represented by the Mayor, Ald F Brell, and Alderman T W Brooker and J Cole. St Marys Council was opposed to amalgamation. It was agreed to place the proposal for amalgamation before the councils represented and that delegates re-assemble in two months time. Penrith Council was not invited to the conference until too late for the May meeting.
