This article makes reference to the Sydney Morning Herald's comments on weather and the state of the effects on the bridge, roads and businesses. It was observed the Nepean River was rapidly rising & measures were about to be taken to save the handrails of Victoria Bridge from destruction but were too late. Large logs of timber & trees crashed into the bridge and carried away about 300 feet of it.
