Edward K. Cox was a breeder of fine race horses and Fernhill Stud produced the first Sydney Cup winner in 1866 - Yattendon. The Fernhill horse stud was at The Cottage section of Fernhills, which now holds Yattendon's grave and where the stock once was presided over by George Paddison.
