Nepean Dairy Company was established in 1892, but by 1894 it was no longer in operation. In 1922 this new factory was opened in Penrith. The Nepean Cooperative Dairy and Refrigerating Company was established on Castlereagh Road, near the railway line. It was capable of pasteurising 2,500 gallons of milk and manufacturing a ton of butter and five tons of ice daily. This factory still operates on the same location but in April 2000 it was redeveloped as the National Foods Dairy Processing Plant.
