The foundation stone for this building was laid by the Archbishop of Sydney on 26 May 1917, with the hall opening on 25 August 1917. This building replaced a basic timber building which had been transferred from the Church of England school grounds in Henry Street. Both buildings would be used at the Parochial Church Day School with Miss Lennox in charge. The school closed in 1945.
