The Church Missionary Society (CMS) Home for Half-Castes at St Sthomas Anglican Church, Mulgoa was established in the Rectory in 1942. It housed some of the 300 Aboriginal children who had been evacuated from the Northern Territory under military orders by the Commonwealth Department of Native Affairs.  Mulgoa Mission was mentioned in the Bringing Them Home report (1997) as an institution that housed indigenous children removed from their families.
