Borough Council - A Scene. At the last meeting, at which the Mayor, Ald Fulton, Long Colless, Smith and J Evans were present, the minutes were read and confirmed. The Works Committee recommended that Alderman's kerbing be removed to the proper alignment made by the Government. It is stated that the kerbing has been misplaced about 18 inches near the Mayors residence. Moved and seconded, and after much discussion, the Mayor ruled it out of order. Ald Smith and others contended that it could not legally be ruled out of order, viz namely waiting to hear the discussion and to see who had the majority. An uproarious scene ensued. Ald Long challenged Ald Smith to a meeting outside, and threw off his coat. The parties never closed, so no damage was done.
