Dame Joan stars in Penrith's revolution

Articles
The program for last night's opening of the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre at Penrith included performances of both Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man and Beethoven's Emperor concerto (with soloist Geoffrey Tozer) by the Sydney Youth Orchestra. Slotted in between was a 30 minute performance, including two encores, by the diva herself, accompanied by her husband Richard Bonynge on the piano. A photograph of Dame Joan at the performance is included with this article. The building is the only one in the world named after Dame Joan. It also has the world's largest concert grand, a 2.9 metre Bosendorfer.
