William Robinson of Rooty Hill, 30 years, was charged by Patrick Coghlan with wilfully and feloniously committing a rape on Coghlan's daughter, Frances, aged 13. The offence had been committed many times and was found out by a threatening letter from the prisoner to the girl asking her to meet him at a certain place on a certain day. Prisoner made off, but Senior Constable Fowler overtook him at Moody's Public House on Parramatta Road, and he was lodged in Penrith that evening. He would be committed to trial the next day.
