Almost 200 years ago, Governor Lachlan Macquarie visited what was known as the interior, the area that lay on the other side of the inhospitable Blue Mountains - That visit by the governor led to the creation of the Hawkesbury's five colonial towns at Windsor, Richmond, Castlereagh, Pitt Town & Wilberforce.
