Penrith's historic Red Cow Inn has been listed as a potential place of heritage significance by Council - A conservation consultant, specialising in heritage architecture, assessed the Red Cow, one fo the city's most well-known hotels - This arose because the current owners of the Red Cow wanted to refurbish the building and possibly change its name, but faced a backlash from community historians - Because the Red Cow is not yet protected by any heritage order, Council does not need to approve any changes to the building - Historian and member of the Penrith Heritage Committee, Marilyn Jones, told councillors on Monday night that the provisions outlined did not go far enough - The heritage LEP lists all significant heritage sites in the city, but it has not been updated recently, so buildings like the Red Cow are not yet listed - A report to council on Monday night said that there is a proposal for a review of the LEP in the forthcoming 2002/03 budget - Photo.
