A concert and meeting of the parishioners of St Stephen's Church of England was held in the Church Grounds on Wednesday evening to discuss a means of obtaining funds to enable them to build a new Sunday School. Mr W Orth, one of the earliest superintendents of the Sunday School gave a speech stating that it was 44 years ago that the Rev Canon Vaughan began a movement to have a new brick Sunday school erected, but while he was overseas his locum had wooden additions made to the building. Donations were made by various persons present, who also gave talks on their past association with the Sunday School.
