As many as 1700 families, many of them in the western suburbs, coul dlose their homes because they cannot afford repayments. President of the NSW Real Estate Institute, Mr Chris Scott, has criticised the State Government for encouraging low-income earners into $1000 deposit homes when more and more already in homes cannot meet their repayments because of high interest rates.
