A special meeting of Penrith Council held on Tuesday evening took a dramatic turn when Alderman Markham put in his resignation as a protest against a decision to make a grant of £15 to the Nepean Rowing Club. He said that he was prepared to assist the club, but would not vote for ratepayers' money being spent on sport.
