State Member for Penrith, Mr Guy Matheson, has backed away form an election promise to build a new bridge across the Nepean River. Mr Matheson said recently that a second crossing, alongside the aging Victoria Bridge, may not be needed after all. Before the State election last March, Mr Matheson promised to build a new bridge across the Nepean to end peak-hour traffic jams.
